The singer, real name Stephanie Edwards, alleges that the girl on this videotape was her year-old niece, whom she had introduced to Kelly along with other members of her family, including her niece's parents.

Sparkle became one of the witnesses called to testify to this effect at Kelly's '02 trial. During the court proceedings, she stated that an attorney had contacted her to claim that one of her relatives was on a tape and that she needed to see it.

The attorney, according to Edwards, then went to her home and played her the beginning of the tape. She says she knew straight away who was on it. The parents of the young girl, whose identity remains protected for obvious reasons, denied that it was her in the tape Kelly denies that he is in the tape at all. Sparkle claims to have been estranged from her family for ten years since this incident and no longer associates with Kelly. In the docu-series, Sparkle becomes tearful as she shares her regret of ever connecting Kelly to her family.

She has maintained that she had no knowledge of Kelly's inappropriate behaviour, and never witnessed anything untoward before the tape emerged. And one of those family members was her then year-old niece who Sparkle claims featured in the porn video in , resulting in a child pornography case for which R Kelly was acquitted.

She says it hurts that people accuse her of throwing her niece to the wolves, but says she knows she did not do so. I know that I did everything in my humanly possible being to protect her while I was in the camp.
